Absence in the Alps: ski jumping stars to miss SGP opener

The much-anticipated Summer Grand Prix is set to kick off this weekend, starting with the iconic HS135 hill in Courchevel. However, none of the Norwegian women will jump in the French Alps this year, as Hopplandslaget has decided to pass on the summer opener.

Courchevel is the first stage for the Summer Grand Prix this year. The HS135 hill in the French Alps, known for its sketchy airport and poor camera angles, will host two competitions on Saturday and Sunday. But fans eager to witness their favorite Norwegian women soar through the skies will have to be patient, as Hopplandslaget has chosen to skip the summer opener.

Further summer plans

Looking beyond the SGP opener, the upcoming weekend from August 4 to 6 presents another event in Szczyrk. It's already known that Maren Lundby will forgo this competition as well to grace the Liverpool Festival in Gjøvik that weekend. The odds of any of the other top Norwegian jumpers attending the event in Poland are very slim.

Hopplandslaget Challenge

It's the Hopplandslaget Challenge in Lillehammer, slated from August 14 to 17, where ski jumping enthusiasts may finally witness the stars in action. This action-packed week will be filled with challenges including Elimination, Target and Marathon. Overall, it promises to be an exciting week.

The SGP competitions in Courchevel are set to start at 10:00 and will be broadcast live on Viasport+ and Viasport 2.
