Unveiling the powerhouse: geared op for an exciting season

Updated: May 18, 2023

In an arctic setting in Hammerfest, Hopplandslaget came together for a special event - the team presentation. Amidst the tranquil surroundings and with a sense of anticipation in the air, seven exceptional women were officially introduced as the members of the national team. The roster includes familiar faces, as well as two promising rookies, ready to make their mark on the international stage.

Leading the pack is the ski jumping queen, Maren Lundby. After a couple of rough years, she made her mark again last season by taking silver during the world championships and by setting a new national record in Vikersund. She seems more than eager for new successes the coming season. Joining her are four familiar faces, including the best Norwegian of last season, Anna Odine Strøm. Silje Opseth, Thea Minyan Bjørseth and Eirin Kvandal also return to the squad.

The five are joined by two rookies: Ingvild Synnøve Midtskogen and Kjersti Græsli. Ingvild (15) and Kjersti (16) are both recognized for their incredible talent and embody the future of Norwegian ski jumping. Both girls have already made their FIS World Cup debut.

The team presentation was made even more special by the support of their sponsor, DinTur, who organized a memorable fishing trip in Hammerfest. This bonding experience allowed the athletes to forge a stronger sense of camaraderie and unity within the team and have some friendly competitions between each other.

It is clear that this mix of seasoned veterans and young talents are put together with one goal in mind: to make Norway the leading country in ski jumping. Not just now, but for many years to come.
